Blurred Vision: Causes, Symptoms And Natural Treatment

Is your sight crystal clear or are you suffering from a vision that’s quite hazy? It’s important to be aware when there are signs of blurriness in your vision. Blurred vision could be a significant indication that eye disease is present. It can affect either one or both of your eyes. And whether it occurs rarely or frequently, it is important to know that it should never be left untreated.

What is the blurred vision?

This eye condition refers to a lack of sharpness of vision resulting in the incapacity to see fine detail. It may be a result of abnormalities present at birth such as near- or farsightedness that may necessitate corrective lenses. It may also indicate the presence of eye disease. Any kind of vision loss could connote several different things ranging from glaucoma to migraines, and it can eventually lead to blindness.

What causes blurred vision?

Blurred vision is caused by a range of mild to serious diseases, disorders, and conditions. While several cases of blurred vision are caused by problems with the eyes, blurred vision can also be due to neurological and autoimmune disorders. Many of the causes are very serious medical conditions. The following eye problems can cause blurry vision:

Cataracts

This is the clouding of the lens in the eye. At first, any blurred eyesight may be almost undetectable. However, cataracts can eventually lead to severe blurred vision that has a large impact on the person’s independence.

Diabetic retinopathy

This is a condition related to diabetes wherein high blood sugar levels cause damage to the retina. The final stage of diabetic retinopathy can cause blurring of vision.

Myopia

Also termed as nearsightedness, myopia is an eye problem that causes objects at a distance to be blurry. A person with myopia can lucidly view objects that are close to them but has a hard time focusing on objects that are at a distance.

Hyperopia

Hyperopia or farsightedness is a common eye problem. People affected with this eye condition have difficulty seeing objects that are proximate. But in severe cases of hyperopia, objects that are far away may appear blurry as well.

What other symptoms may take place with blurred vision?

Depending on the underlying disease, disorder or condition, blurring of vision may go along with other symptoms. You may encounter problems with the eye itself, or you may have symptoms that affect other parts of the body system including the neuromuscular and immune systems. For instance, blurred vision that is caused by an autoimmune disorder may be accompanied by joint pain or stiffness. A minor headache may occur with blurred vision due to a refractive error such as nearsightedness.

What are natural ways to manage blurred vision?

If your vision is blurred, it is best to go see your eye doctor as soon as possible. Treatment options vary from surgery to corrective lenses depending on the condition of your eye. But while you may need corrective lenses, contacts or other treatment from an eye specialist, there is a natural way to help relieve blurry vision and that is to do simple eye exercises. They are really easy-to-do exercises that you can perform at the comfort of your own home.

Palming

To do this, sit in a chair at a table with your elbows resting comfortably on the table. Rub your hands together to create some heat on your palms. Cup your hands over both eyes without putting in pressure on the sockets. For 10 minutes, breathe deeply and relax with your hands resting over your eyes. Performing the exercise will allow your eyes, mind, and body to relax and will often enhance blurred vision for tired eyes.

Swinging

This exercise can help lubricate the eyes and keep them free of debris. It’s recommended for those who spend a lot of time staring at the computer monitor. To do this, simply stand up and focus on a distant point such as the horizon. Swayback and forth as you keep your eyes focused on the point. Blink your eyes each time you sway back and forth. It’s best to repeat this exercise 100 times each day.
